Absence
Absence due to illness:
If your child is ill, please email or telephone the school office by 10.00am. We have an absence voicemail and you may leave a message at any time, or the office will receive calls from 8.30am. Please avoid 'phoning between 8.50am and 9.10am as the reception desk is often very busy and we may not be able to take your call.
IF YOU DO NOT INFORM US WHY YOUR CHILD IS NOT AT SCHOOL, THE ABSENCE WILL BE RECORDED AS 'UNAUTHORISED'.
Medical appointments:
Please let us know in writing if you need to take your child out of school for medical appointments. Some hospital appointments are unavoidable during school hours however routine dental appointments should be after school only.
Holidays in Term Time:
The Education (Pupil registration) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2013 which came into effect on 1st September 2013 make clear that headteachers may not grant leave of absence in term time unless there are exceptional circumstances.
We hope that parents will heed the new regulations. If you do require any leave of absence for your child during term time you will need to meet with the Headteacher. Please contact the school office to make an appointment. Please be aware that from 13th January 2014 the school will be implementing Penalty Notices for unauthorised absence.
