Book Week 2017
We had a book week from Monday 13th November until Friday 17th November. The focus for our book week was India. Mrs Bousfield, our literacy co-ordinator had arranged lots of reading opportunities for the children. She launched the week with a whole school assembly. The children spent the week listening for the bell signalling it was time to stop, drop and look at a book. On Tuesday all of the children spent time listening to an amazing storyteller who kept the attention of all the children from the nursery to year 2 with her Indian stories. The year 2 children had a visit from Whitchurch Silk Mill on Wednesday, learning about how silk is created. The year 1 children saw some of our Indian mums in their traditional saris on Wednesdnesday afternoon. On Thursday parents and staff read stories to different groups of children throughout the school. On Friday the Year 1 children did some Bollywood dancing. The week ended with Cherry Class celebration worship sharing their learning with the whole school and their parents. The children had a book and story filled week and learnt alot about India and heard a wide variety of stories. A big thank you to Mrs Bousfield in planning this great week for the children which the children throughly enjoyed.
